This is called gun powder or black powder, which is a mixture of many chemicals. different chemicals impart different colors to flame.

As we ignite this black powder, it burns with vigorous flame because of chemical energy stored in it

Therefore when we ignite a firecracker the chemical energy stored in it makes it blast....!!!
